On July 5th 1942 mined and sunk in allied minefield at eastern entrance to Denmark Strait (voyage Russia / Reykjavik - ballast); forepart salved nd beached; later refloated and towed to Reykjavik; used by USN as a storage hulk, a boat landing stage and a cargo handling platform at Falcon Point; On January 9th 1952 forepart broke adrift in position 59?20'N 007?33'W whilst being towed to Firth of Forth for scrapping; on September 5th 1952 ashore and wrecked Torrisdale Bay, Sutherland. |
