Valeri Chkalov I (ex- Alexander Baranoff) on December 19th 1943 outside Sand Bay, Great Sitkin Island after she was was broke in two in North Pacific in heavy weather on December 14th 1943. Owned by U.S.Department of Commerce and transferrred to USSR under Lend / Lease.
