Samflora (ex- Israel J.Merritt) on December 5th 1943 in convoy at position 36°54'N 75°31'W appr.48 miles southeast off Chesapeake Bay. Owned by U.S.Department of Commerce and transferred to British Ministry of War Transport under Lend / Lease and operated by Union Castle Mail Steamship Co.
