Sambuff (ex- Frank A.Vanderlip) on March 22nd 1944 in convoy at position 36°57'N 74°54'W course 265° appr.86 miles west off Chesapeake Bay. Owned by U.S.Department of Commerce and transferred to British Ministry of War Transport under Lend / Lease and operated by Union Castle Mail Steamship Co.
