Samsoaring in May 1944 at Bethlehem-Fairfield, while undergoing outfitting the vessel suffered an internal explosion and causing it to capsize as shown. Owned by U.S.Department of Commerce and transferred to British Ministry of War Transport under Lend / Lease and will operated by P & O Steam Navigation Co.(Accession Code 80.300 Box 7).
